Mr Richard Duffy complained to the Press Complaints Commission that the newspaper had inaccurately reported that the Francis Inquiry into the Mid Staffordshire NHS Foundation Trust had found that patients had been forced to drink water out of plant pots in breach of Clause 1 (Accuracy) of the Editors' Code of Practice.

The complaint was resolved when the PCC negotiated the amendment of the online article and the publication of the following footnote:

Correction: Contrary to an earlier version of this item, we would like to make clear that the inquiry conducted by Robert Francis QC did not hear any direct evidence about an incident in which a patient was said to have been forced by thirst to drink water from a flower vase.
