Wonga complained via solicitors that the newspaper had published inaccurate information in breach of Clause 1 (Accuracy) of the Editors' Code of Practice. The complainant was concerned that the article incorrectly claimed that it provided loans to UK customers via its Swiss office rather than its UK office. All loans granted to UK customers were made through its UK lending entity, which was regulated by the OFT.

While the newspaper did not consider its article was significantly inaccurate, it agreed to publish the following statement, negotiated by the PCC, as a footnote to the online article:

Wonga has asked us to clarify our report that Wonga began lending to UK customers through its Swiss operation last year. While some of the functions involved in making loans are outsourced to Switzerland and other territories, all its UK loans are granted by Wonga's UK office as regulated by the OFT.
