Publication: The Guardian

Mr Chris Winnan complained to the Press Complaints Commission that the newspaper had inaccurately reported that illegally downloaded music, films and software cost the industry around bn (£51bn) a month, in breach of Clause 1 (Accuracy) of the Editors' Code of Practice.

Although the newspaper denied that there was a breach of the Code, the complaint was resolved when the PCC negotiated the amendment of the online article to make clear that the figure quoted was annual, and not for a month.
