Mr Joe Holden

Clauses Noted: 1

Publication: Chorley Guardian

Complaint:

Mr Joe Holden, acting on behalf of the Chorley Trials Club, complained to the Press Complaints Commission that the newspaper had published a one-side article about the club's proposal to use Denham Quarry for motorcycling events in breach of Clause 1 (Accuracy) of the Editors' Code of Practice. In particular, the complainant considered that the newspaper had wrongly attributed statements to the club, and had overstated the number of days the club proposed to use the site and the number of people who would attend the events.

Resolution:

The complaint was resolved when the PCC negotiated the publication of a 350-word letter, putting forward the club's vision for its use of Denham Quarry.
