Publication: The Mail on Sunday

Jenni Thomas complained to the Press Complaints Commission that the newspaper had published an article on its website that was inaccurate in breach of Clause 1 (Accuracy) of the Editors' Code of Practice. The complainant was concerned that the newspaper had incorrectly claimed that Child Bereavement Charity had been founded by Julia Samuel. In fact, the complainant had been the sole founder of the charity. Julia Samuel had subsequently become the charity's first patron.

The complaint was resolved when the PCC negotiated amendments to the article to make clear that Ms Samuel had been the charity's founding patron. The following clarification was appended to the article:

An earlier version of this article described Julia Samuel as founder of the Child Bereavement Charity. In fact the sole founder was Jenni Thomas. Julia Samuel was founder patron.
