Complainant Name:
Mr Tom Harris MP

Clauses Noted: 1

Publication: The Scottish Sun

Mr Tom Harris MP complained to the Press Complaints Commission that the newspaper had inaccurately reported that he had spent £353 on a single train fare (when this was in fact the cost of a return ticket) in breach of Clause 1 (Accuracy) of the Editors' Code of Practice.

The complaint was resolved after the PCC negotiated the publication of the following correction:

In an article ‘MP's £353 on single train fare' (30 March) we stated that MP Mr Tom Harris lavished £353 of taxpayers' cash on a single train ticked in 2013. We have since learned that the fare was a ‘return' and not and ‘single' ticket and are happy to set the record straight.
