Complaint:

Mrs Anna Glew complained to the Press Complaints Commission that the newspaper had published inaccurate information in breach of Clause 1 (Accuracy) of the Editors' Code of Practice. The complainant said that the views expressed by the journalist on the political situation in Ukraine were misguided and inaccurate. Further, she said that the article had reported the story of an individual taken from a fake Facebook profile, which had misled readers as to its authenticity.

Resolution:

The complaint was resolved when the newspaper amended the online article to include the following footnote clarification:

The following footnote was appended on 16 May 2014: The quotation from a doctor who says he was "stopped by pro-Ukrainian Nazi radicals" was from an account on a Facebook page that has subsequently been removed.
