Complainant Name:
Ms Karen Crawford

Clauses Noted: 1, 5

Publication: The Scottish Sun

Complaint:

Ms Karen Crawford complained to the Press Complaints Commission that the newspaper had breached Clause 1 (Accuracy) and Clause 5 (Intrusion into grief or shock) of the Editors' Code of Practice. The newspaper had published an article about a horse with narcolepsy. The complainant was a director of the charity which was caring for the horse, and she said that the article had contained a number of inaccuracies and did not treat the subject with sensitivity. She also complained that details on how to donate to the charity were not included.

Resolution:

The complaint was resolved directly between the complainant and the newspaper when a follow-up article about the charity was published.
