Publication: Reading Chronicle

A man complained to the Press Complaints Commission, under Clause 1 (Accuracy) of the Editors' Code of Practice, that an article had misrepresented the conduction of Reading Football Club's fans. He was also concerned that the article had inaccurately implied that the Hillsborough disaster had been caused by hooligans at the game.

The complaint was resolved after the newspaper accepted that the article fell short of the standards expected under the Editors' Code, and explained that it had subsequently published a full front page apology and a statement from Reading FC.
