Complainant Name:
Resolved - Akhmed Hussain v Daily Mail

Clauses Noted: 1

Publication: Daily Mail

Mr Akhmed Hussain complained to the Press Complaints Commission that the newspaper had published a report containing a number of inaccuracies about his time at Carlton Bolling College, in breach of Clause 1 (Accuracy) of the Editors' Code of Practice.

The complaint was resolved after the PCC negotiated the removal of the online article and the publication of the following correction and apology:

'Our report on June 12 said that the former deputy head of Carlton Bolling College, Akhmed Hussain, was coached to become deputy head of the school by his ‘personal friend' Tahir Alam. The report also said that Mr Hussain is a ‘close associate' of the Chair of Governors at Carlton Bolling, Faisal Khan and that during Mr Hussain's employment, two headteachers left Carlton Bolling College. In fact Mr Hussain has informed us that he is not a ‘close associate' of Mr Khan and he was not "coached" by or a "personal friend" of Mr Alam. In addition, only one headteacher left during his four year stay at Carlton Bolling College. We accept that the report contained inaccuracies and apologise for these errors.'
