Complainant Name:
Dr Keith Hearne

Clauses Noted: 1

Publication: The Observer

Complaint:

Dr Keith Hearne complained to the Press Complaints Commission about an article which he considered to have been misleading in breach of Clause 1 (Accuracy) of the Editors' Code of Practice. The complainant discovered a procedure which allowed lucid dreamers to communicate with sleep researchers using eye movement. He believed the article had incorrectly attributed this discovery to another individual.

Resolution:

The complaint was resolved when the PCC negotiated an amendment to the online article, so that the relevant paragraph stated that the procedure had been "discovered by Keith Hearne and later verified by sleep researcher Stephen LeBerge"
