Mr Adam Levick

Clauses Noted: 1

Publication: The Times

Mr Adam Levick complained to the Press Complaints Commission that the newspaper had breached Clause 1 (Accuracy) of the Editors' Code of Practice. He said that the headline of an article inaccurately stated that Israel had admitted that it had broken its truce with Gaza.

The complaint was resolved when the PCC negotiated the amendment of the online headline and the publication of the following correction in the print newspaper:

"Our report of an Israeli airstrike on the al-Shati refugee camp (August 5) was inaccurately headlined "Refugee camp hit as Israel admits it broke Gaza truce". While Israel confirmed that it had carried out the attack, it had not admitted breaking the truce; the timing of the airstrike is a matter of dispute."
