Complainant Name:
Ms Pip Quinn

Clauses Noted: 1, 2, 3, 6

Publication: The Scottish Sun

Complaint:

This complaint was originally made to the PCC. As the PCC closed on 8 September the complaint was resolved by the Independent Press Standards Organisation (IPSO) under PCC procedures. IPSO is the new independent regulator of the newspaper and magazine industry.

Ms Pip Quinn complained to the Press Complaints Commission, on behalf of the charity Hearts & Minds, that the newspaper had breached Clause 1 (Accuracy), Clause 2 (Opportunity to reply), Clause 3 (Privacy) and Clause 6 (Children) of the Editors' Code of Practice. She said that an article about the charity had been inaccurate and misleading, and had included photographs published without appropriate consent.

Resolution:

The complaint was resolved when the PCC negotiated amendments to the online article, the publication of a follow-up article about the charity's work, and a donation to the charity.
