Complainant Name: Clauses Noted: 1 Publication: Scottish Daily Mail Complaint: This complaint was originally made to the PCC. As the PCC closed on 8 September the complaint was resolved by the Independent Press Standards Organisation (IPSO) under PCC procedures. IPSO is the new independent regulator of the newspaper and magazine industry. Mr James Vickers complained to the Press Complaints Commission that the newspaper had breached Clause 1 (Accuracy) of the Editors'' Code of Practice, in stating that the Centre for Drugs Misuse Research was part of Glasgow University.
Resolution: The complaint was resolved when the newspaper published the following corrections in print and online: In an article on June 6, we stated that Professor Neil McKeganey was associated with the Centre for Drugs Misuse Research at Glasgow University, when in fact he is associated with the Centre for Drugs Misuse Research which has no connection to Glasgow University. We are happy to clarify the matter. An earlier version of this article stated that Professor Neil McKeganey was associated with the Centre for Drug Misuse Research at Glasgow University, when in fact, he is associated with the Centre for Drug Misuse Research which has no connection with Glasgow University.
