Complainant Name:
Dr Gabriel Scally

Clauses Noted: 1

Publication: Daily Mail

Dr Gabriel Scally complained to the Press Complaints Commission that the newspaper had breached Clause 1 (Accuracy) of the Editors' Code of Practice. The article had reported some tweets that he had sent, and he said that the newspaper's interpretation of them was inaccurate and misleading. He also said that it was inaccurate to state that the Francis Inquiry into Mid-Staffordshire Hospital found that as many as 1,200 people could have "died needlessly".

The complaint was resolved when the PCC negotiated the removal of the article from the newspaper's website.
