Complainant Name:
Mr Alan Coleman

Clauses Noted: 1

Publication: Daily Mirror

Complaint:

Mr Alan Coleman complained to the Press Complaints Commission, under Clause 1 (Accuracy) of the Editors' Code of Practice, that an article about the funeral of an RAF veteran had inaccurately described members of The Royal British Legion Riders Branch as "Hells Angels with poppies".

Resolution:

The complaint was resolved when the PCC negotiated an amendment to the online article and the publication of the following correction:

In our article "500 In salute at funeral of RAF man, 90", relying on information from a freelance reporter, we incorrectly stated that the bikers in attendance at the funeral were Hell's Angels. In fact they were members of the Royal British Legion Rider's Branch. We apologize to them for this error.
