Complainant Name:
Miss Julia Hall-Jones

Clauses Noted: 1

Publication: Daily Mail

Miss Julia Hall-Jones complained to the Press Complaints Commission that an article published on the website of the Daily Mail was inaccurate in breach of Clause 1 (Accuracy) of the Editors' Code of Practice. She said that the article had stated as fact that the pea harvest would be very successful in 2014, when in fact this was not yet established. She also said that the article had stated that sales of peas were declining due to the increased popularity of pasta. This fact was true of potatoes, rather than peas.

The complaint was resolved when the PCC negotiated amendments to the online article and the addition of a footnote to clarify the situation.
