Complainant Name:
Reverend Paul Flowers

Clauses Noted: 1

Publication: Daily Mail

Reverend Paul Flowers complained to the Press Complaints Commission that the newspaper had published on its website inaccurate information in breach of Clause 1 (Accuracy) of the Editors' Code of Practice. The complainant said that the newspaper had published inaccurate claims that he had paid a rent boy £2000 for six meetings in a hotel in Manchester. He had never met the man in question.

The complained was resolved when the PCC negotiated the removal of the article and the publication of the following clarification:

An article published on 13 March 2014 detailed an alleged relationship between Revd. Paul Flowers and escort Adam Brookes. We have been asked to point out that Revd. Flowers denies ever meeting Mr Brookes, who he states fabricated all the details relating to this relationship. We are happy to make Revd. Flowers' position clear.
