Complainant Name:
Mr Craig Dougall

Clauses Noted: 1

Publication: Edinburgh Evening News

Complaint:

This complaint was originally made to the PCC. As the PCC closed on 8 September the complaint was resolved by the Independent Press Standards Organisation (IPSO) under PCC procedures. IPSO is the new independent regulator of the newspaper and magazine industry.

Mr Craig Dougall complained to the Press Complaints Commission that an article was inaccurate in breach of Clause 1 (Accuracy) of the Editors' Code of Practice. He said that the license for community radio station Castle FM was held by Leith Community Media Works Ltd and not Leith Community Media Works Association as reported.

Resolution:

The complaint was resolved when the newspaper offered to interview the complainant, with a view to publishing a follow-up story. It also removed the online article and published the following correction in print and online:

An article entitled Watchdog Threatens Radio Station with 250,000 Fine on July 31 described Carly Templeman as a trustee of Leith Community Media Works which we said held the license for the Castle FM radio station. Ms Templeman is in fact a trustee of the charity Leith Community Media Works Association, while the license is held by a separate company, Leith Community Media Works Ltd, which runs the station. We apologise for the error and are happy to set the record straight.
