Complainant Name:
Mr Steven Holme

Clauses Noted: 1

Publication: Scarborough Evening News

This complaint was originally made to the PCC. As the PCC closed on 8 September the complaint was resolved by the Independent Press Standards Organisation (IPSO) under PCC procedures. IPSO is the new independent regulator of the newspaper and magazine industry.

Mr Steven Holme complained to the Press Complaints Commission, under Clause 1 (Accuracy) of the Editors' Code of Practice, that an article had inaccurately stated that he was known to police as a drug dealer.

The complaint was resolved when the newspaper published the following correction:

The Scarborough News has been asked to make clear that Steven Holme, 43, of North Marine Road, was not known to the police as a drug dealer, contrary to our York Crown Court report on August 7 in which he was given a two-year jail sentence suspended for two years after admitting being concerned in the supply of heroin, and that he was only a drug user.
