Complaint:

This complaint was originally made to the PCC. As the PCC closed on 8 September the complaint was resolved by the Independent Press Standards Organisation (IPSO) under PCC procedures. IPSO is the new independent regulator of the newspaper and magazine industry.

Mr Jamison LaRue complained to the Press Complaints Commission, under Clause 1 (Accuracy) of the Editors' Code of Practice, that the newspaper had reported as fact accusations which had been made by Judicial Watch.

Resolution:

The complaint was resolved when amendments were made to the online article and the following wording was appended:

This first paragraph of this article has been updated to further clarify that the claims made by the U.S. government lawyer relating to the missing emails come from conservative group Judicial Watch.
