Complainant Name:
Mr Anthony Waite

Clauses Noted: 1

Publication: Daily Mail

Complaint:

This complaint was originally made to the PCC. As the PCC closed on 8 September the complaint was resolved by the Independent Press Standards Organisation (IPSO) under PCC procedures. IPSO is the new independent regulator of the newspaper and magazine industry.

Mr Anthony Waite complained to the Press Complaints Commission that the newspaper had breached Clause 1 (Accuracy) of the Editors' Code of Practice in two articles highlighting concerns about living conditions at a property he owned.

Resolution:

The complaint was resolved when the newspaper made amendments to one of the online articles, and appended the following note to the second article:

"Since this item was published, we have been informed by the landlord Tony Waite that Mr Sluka did not live in the area that was photographed showing a toilet in a kitchen and he has appealed Council findings. We are happy to make this clear."
