| code advice for complainants Pre publication Advice
The PCC can help to resolve issues with a story that might arise prior to its publication. Before a story is published, the PCC can help to reassure individuals that their position has been taken into account at the publication concerned. We can either advise individuals on how to deal with the newspaper or magazine or, in some cases, pass on specific concerns to the publication directly. Although the PCC has no formal powers of prior restraint, we can liaise with both parties to try to sort out the issue. The discussions we have will affect the way the story is handled by the publication and in some cases, will lead to it not appearing at all. There is no need to make a formal complaint to use this service. In office hours (Monday-Friday 9am-5.30pm) the number to call is 020 7831 0022. Out of office hours, this service is available 24 hours in emergencies only, on 07659 152656. We can also give advice to editors and journalists on a pre-publication basis about any aspect of the Code of Practice. For more information about this service please click here. << Go Back Copies of some of the guidance notes are now available in wallet size leaflets. If you would like to receive a hard copy of any or all of these leaflets please email tonia.milton@pcc.org.uk with your name and postal address. |
