Complainant Name: Clauses Noted: 1 Publication: The Scotsman Complaint: Mr Kevin McCartney complained that an article was inaccurate when it stated that he was sent to jail for 16 weeks in 2005 for attacking his girlfriend. Resolution: The complaint was resolved when the newspaper published
the following correction and apology:
“In an article headlined ‘Nurse jailed for attacking partner wins job fight’ published on April 2 we said that a conduct and competency committee meeting of the Nursing and Midwifery council had been told that nurse Kevin McCartney, 45, of Alexandria, had been jailed for 16 weeks in 2005 for attacking his then partner. We now understand that Mr McCartney was not jailed but that the 16-week sentence was suspended for two years. We are happy to make the correction and apologise for the error”. Report: 77 << Go Back |
