Complainant Name: Clauses Noted: 1, 6 Publication: Daily Mail Complaint: Ms Heather Mills complained about two column pieces
by Amanda Platell, which referred to her daughter Beatrice. The first inaccurately suggested that
Beatrice had been asked to approve the living arrangements of her father and his
girlfriend. It was headlined by an
unflattering reference to Beatrice. The
second wrongly implied that she had prevented her ex-husband from seeing his
daughter.
Resolution: The complaint was resolved when the newspaper
removed the articles from its website, made an undertaking about future content
and sent a private letter of apology to the complainant. It accepted that the term in the headline was
inappropriate and would not be reused.
