Complainant Name: Clauses Noted: 1 Publication: Daily Mirror Complaint: Ms Heather Mills complained that the newspaper
inaccurately suggested that her daughter had been heard singing on Sir Paul
McCartney’s album. Sir Paul had
confirmed that the claim was untrue. Ms
Mills was concerned that press attention on her daughter was unhelpful and
indicated that she and her ex-husband wished to protect her from unwanted
intrusion.
Resolution: The complaint was resolved when the newspaper – which indicated that it was conscious of the terms of Clause 6 (Children) of the Code – removed the article from its website and published the following correction: Following our article of 18th November 2008 in which we stated that Heather Mills and Paul McCartney’s daughter Beatrice was singing on Paul’s new album, we have been asked by Heather Mills to point out that it is not Beatrice on the album.
