A woman complained that an article about a paranoid schizophrenic who had been detained under the Mental Health Act had referred to him being “caged”.

The complaint was resolved when the newspaper – which regretted that the word had been used – apologised to the complainant and reminded its sub-editors of the appropriate language when covering issues of mental health.
