Dr Aaron Sell of the University of California complained to the Press Complaints Commission that the newspaper had published an article that inaccurately characterised his research and inaccurately attributed comments to him.

No agreement could be established on the facts of the matter and the likely understanding of the research readers would have taken from the article. However, the complaint was resolved when the PCC negotiated the removal of the online version of the article from the newspaper's website.
