PCC negotiates apology from Heat to HRH Duchess of Cambridge
The Press Complaints Commission has negotiated the publication of an apology to HRH The Duchess of Cambridge, following a complaint about a photograph of the Duchess shopping at a supermarket published in Heat magazine. The apology, which is published on the magazine's "Emails" page in this week's edition (26 May - 1 June 2012), reads as follows:
APOLOGY: HRH THE DUCHESS OF CAMBRIDGE
In our 3-9 December magazine, we published a photograph taken of The Duchess of Cambridge while shopping in a store. We now accept that we should not have done so and apologise to her for our actions.
The apology has also been published online here.
The complaint was made to the PCC (via Harbottle & Lewis solicitors) under Clauses 3 (Privacy) and 4 (Harassment) of the Editors' Code of Practice.
A summary of the complaint will be published on the PCC's website here in due course.
