Complainant Name: Clauses Noted: 1 Publication: Metro Complaint: Mr Michael Turberville complained to the Press Complaints Commission under Clause 1 (Accuracy) of the Editors' Code of Practice about an article which reported that the social drug GBL was "almost tasteless and odourless when diluted". The complainant stated that this was inaccurate; the diluted form of the drug had a distinctive taste. He believed that the article could worry members of the public unnecessarily that their drinks had been spiked by the drug. Resolution: The complaint was resolved when the PCC negotiated the redaction of the reference and the publication of the following statement: In an article on May 2 about the death of accountant Lynette Nock, who was thought to have taken party drug GBL, we said that it was ‘almost tasteless and odourless'.
