Complainant Name:
Councillor James Moher

Clauses Noted: 1, 2

Publication: Brent & Kilburn Times

Complaint:

Councillor James Moher complained to the Press Complaints Commission that the newspaper had breached Clause 1 (Accuracy) and Clause 2 (Opportunity to reply) of the Editors' Code of Practice.

The complainant asserted that the newspaper had published an article, relating to a local council policy that was inaccurate and misleading, in response to which he had submitted a letter to the newspaper, enclosing two photographs. The complainant felt the newspaper's editing of this letter, and failure to publish his photographs, had frustrated his opportunity to reply to inaccuracies.

Resolution:

The complaint was resolved when the PCC negotiated the publication of a letter from the complaint, including one of his photographs.
