Mr Giovanni Di Stefano complained to the Press Complaints Commission that the article, which had reported on allegations made against him in a YouTube video, had breached Clause 1 (Accuracy) and Clause 2 (Right to reply) of the Editors' Code of Practice. The complainant said that the suggestion, contained in the headline to the article, that he had taken £100,000 from the individual who had posted the online video was inaccurate, and had not been supported by evidence. Furthermore, the complainant asserted that the newspaper had failed to research the allegations, and had not contacted him for comment.
The complaint was resolved when the PCC negotiated the publication of the following statement:
