Complainant Name: Clauses Noted: 1 Publication: Shropshire Star Complaint: Miss Julie Lomath complained to the Press Complaints Commission that the newspaper had breached Clause 1 (Accuracy) in a comment piece about dangerous dogs. She was concerned that the newspaper had printed an image of her white American bulldog with a caption which suggested that it was a Staffordshire bull terrier. She also questioned where the newspaper had acquired the image. Resolution: The complaint was resolved when the PCC negotiated the publication of the following apology and the newspaper offered to make a donation to a charity of the complainant's choice: "On May 2, an article by Nigel Hastilow was accompanied by a photograph of a white American Bulldog. The caption incorrectly stated that the animal was a Staffordshire bull terrier. We apologise for the error."Date Published: 13/09/2012 << Go Back |
