Complainant Name: Clauses Noted: 3 Publication: Evening Telegraph & Post Complaint: Miss Louise MacGregor complained to the Press Complaints Commission that the newspaper had published information and a photograph taken from her Facebook profile - without her consent - which intruded into her private life in breach of Clause 3 (Privacy) of the Editors' Code of Practice. Resolution: The complaint was resolved when the PCC negotiated the publication of the following apology: On November 13, the Evening Telegraph published an article and photograph relating to Louise MacGregor who was injured in a workplace accident. As part of the article we used a photograph of Miss MacGregor and comments taken from a website. Miss MacGregor did not provide consent for these to be used, and the newspaper did not communicate with her before publication. We would like to apologise to her for this and for any distress it has caused. The newspaper also wrote private letters of apology to the complainant and her family.Date Published: 16/01/2013 << Go Back |
