Mr John Baron MP complained to the Press Complaints Commission that the newspaper had published an article in breach of Clause 1 (Accuracy) of the Editors' Code of Practice. The newspaper had incorrectly reported that he had claimed that economic pressures made further reductions to the size of the army inevitable.

The complaint was resolved directly between the parties when the newspaper published the following correction:
