When is a reply a right?
Individuals at the centre of a news story will often assume that they have the right to be contacted by the newspaper in question before publication. But how realistic is this in practice? Two recent PCC adjudications illustrate a number of important principles that editors should bear in mind.

The Facts behind the Figures
Statistics can at times be confusing and it is all too easy for figures to be misinterpreted. This article gets to the bottom of how many complaints we deal with and how many we don't (and why), and explains the terminology we use in the presentation of our statistics.

Media montages
It is said that the camera never lies, but a recent complaint from David Walliams shows that, on some occasions, the story behind a picture is not always what it seems. The publication of composite images which are not clearly labelled as such can be problematic for editors and readers alike, as Mr Walliams' case amply demonstrates.

John Home Robertson interview
In the second part of our ongoing series of interviews with PCC Commissioners and other personnel, we talk to John Home Robertson, the newest public member of the Commission. As a former MP and MSP, John talks about his experiences of the press while in politics and explains why he wanted to join the Commission.
